About Me

My name is Apoorva Joshi and I’m currently a Senior Data Scientist at Elastic. I am at my happiest when I’m working with large datasets and behavioral data. I have a diverse engineering background with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, a Master’s in Computer Engineering, and now a little over four years working as an Applied Data Scientist in the Cybersecurity industry.

Over the past few years, I have applied machine learning and statistical concepts to interesting problems like business email compromise, malicious URL detection, threat hunting, user behavior analysis, and churn prediction. I love engaging with the tech community at large via blogs, meetups, and conference talks.

I am also extremely passionate about the cause of increasing the representation of women in STEM, within and outside of my workplace, which is why I am an active member of employee resource groups (ERGs), and organizations like Girls Who Code, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) and AnitaB.org. In the remainder of my free time, I like to paint, read, solve jigsaw puzzles, and play board/card games.
